After winning the semi-finals with a 223, One Smart Lookin Cat and Craig Morris posted a 226 for a four-point win in the 2003 NCHA Futurity finals. It marked the first in a long series of wins for the offspring of High Brow Cat.
One Smart Lookin Cat was bred by Wiens Ranch of Colorado, and owned by auto dealer John McClaren of McGregor, Texas. He is out of The Smart Look, a 1991 Futurity finalist that has now produced four earners of more than $200,000 each.
Morris, who celebrated his 36th birthday the day before the finals, went over the $1 million mark with his win.
“Not only is (One Smart Lookin Cat) a great athlete, he’s a great thinker, too,” Morris said. “You don’t find that all together in too many horses.”
