Will Rogers Coliseum gears up to cut 10,000 head of cattle at the XTO Energy/NCHA Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic

(Fort Worth, TX)- The second leg of the National Cutting Horse Association’s Triple Crown is headed back home to Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum March 24 – April 14. Nearly 2,000 horse and rider duos will cut nearly 10,000 head of cattle all hoping to pick the winning combination to earn a piece of the $3 million purse at the 2012 XTO Energy/NCHA Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic.

Cutting action begins at 8 a.m. daily with free admission to show, and free general admission to the Open and Non Pro finals this year! A complete daily schedule and list of classes are available on the NCHA Web site at

Learn cutting tips from premier NCHA trainers demonstrating on live cattle at the “Cut Like A Champion” Clinic on April 12 from 6-9 pm. There will be four 30-45 minute individual lessons and audience Q&A from four champions of 2011, including Darren Simpkins, Craig Thompson, Austin Shepard, and Roger Wagner. Admission is free.

Everyone is invited to the Cajun Cutters Party, sponsored by High Brow CD and Grace Ranch, March 31 following the Open Classic finals (approximately 7:30 pm). Enjoy classic Cajun-style crawfish and catfish along with drinks, live music and more!

Come back on Friday, April 13, for the “Bringing in the Finals Weekend” Party, sponsored by SynBioNt Ag Wash. The party will be held from 5-8 pm at the Best of the West Premier Shopping Experience, located in the Amon G Carter Exhibit Hall. Free food, live entertainment and cash bars provided along with drawings for Best of the West Trade Show certificates and SynBioNt Ag Wash products.

The Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall will serve as headquarters for the Best of the West Premier Shopping Experience, beginning Thursday, March 29. The exhibit hall opens daily at 9:30 a.m. and contains exhibitors featuring clothing, jewelry, home décor, and more!

The Super Stakes is an event for 4-year-old horses while the Super Stakes Classic is for 5- and 6-year-old horses.

The Super Stakes is a show for only the offspring of nominated stallions. More than 180 of the industry’s top sires are on the 2012 list of nominees. Each stallion owner paid a minimum $2,600 to subscribe, the majority of which is added directly to the event’s purse.
