Executive Committee Meeting
Thursday, January 16, 2014

The NCHA Executive Committee met on Thursday, January 16, 2014 via conference call. The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m. with 11 members present: President Barbara Brooks, President-Elect Bruce Richerson, Vice President Jo Ellard, Charles Israel, Kathy Daughn, Edley Hixson, Seth Kirchner, Jerry Louie, Craig Morris, Bill Riddle, and Chuck Smith. The absences of Brett Davis, Dennie Dunn, and Matt Gaines were excused.

Also present on the call were Executive Director Jim Bret Campbell, assistant Pam Robison, Treasurer Rick Ivey, Budget Review & Compensation Committee Chair Terry Strange and Vice Chair Lach Perks.

The purpose of this call was to continue the review of the Association’s 2014 budget. It was reminded that for the 2013-2014 Triple Crown series, the NCHA’s application for the Major Events Trust Fund was approved for approximately $2.6 million (down from the previous year’s $3.4 million). Additionally, the City of Fort Worth is reducing its contribution to the NCHA to approximately $75,000 in 2014.

In an effort to keep the outstanding purse payouts that the NCHA provides to its Triple Crown participants, the BR&C Committee recommends the adjustment of entry and show fees associate with those events. As the majority of the 2014 Super Stakes entry fees have already been collected, it is recommended to begin any changes beginning with the 2014 Great American Insurance Summer Cutting Spectacular. A motion was made by Craig Morris, seconded by Chuck Smith and passed to approve the following entry fee adjustments for the NCHA Triple Crown events:

2014 Futurity:
Open $3,000 (was $2,500)
Non Pro $2,500 (was $2,100)
Limited Non Pro $1,500 (was $1,400)
Unlimited Amateur $1,400 (was $1,250)
Amateur $1,400 (was $1,250)

2014 Summer Show (both divisions):
Open $2,500 (was $2,000)
Non Pro $2,500 (was $2,000)
Limited Non Pro $1,500 (was $1,400)
Unlimited Amateur $1,100 (was $950), Show fee $500 (was $450)
Amateur $1,100 (was $950), Show fee $500 (was $450)

2015 Super Stakes (both divisions):
Open $2,500 (was $2,000)
Non Pro $2,500 (was $2,000)
Limited Non Pro $1,500 (was $1,400)
Unlimited Amateur $1,100 (was $950), Show fee $500 (was $450)
Amateur $1,100 (was $950), Show fee $500 (was $450)

Those individuals that have already paid an entry fee in full will be sent a notice regarding the increase in fees or have the option of receiving a full refund.

The potential for adjusting the entry fees at the Eastern and Western Championships in 2015 will be addressed after the conclusion of these two events this year when all expenses and income can be reviewed.

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
