This Cats Got Style wins $15,000 Novice

Dustin Gonnet and This Cats Got Style marked 225 Monday for a 7-point win in the $15,000 Novice finals at the 6666 Ranch NCHA Western National Championships in Reno, Nevada. The win was worth $3,681, while Morgan Cromer’s reserve championship on Daintys Kual Kitty was good for $3,020.

This Cats Got Style is owned by Canada’s Ronald Patton and was bred by Rhodes River Ranch. The 6-year-old mare is by High Brow Cat out of Moms Stylish Pepto. Moms Stylish Pepto has produced earners of more than $890,000, including Moms Stylish Cat ($236,000), Moms Dual N Badger ($153,000) and Moms Stylish Scoot ($151,000).

This Cats Got Style will go over the $80,000 mark with her latest win. Gonnet rode the mare to win the Canadian Supreme as a 3-year-old, and again last year at five.

Gonnet previously won the Novice title at the Western Nationals in 2011 when he rode Patton’s Mecom Blue mare Christinas Blue. He also won the Open championship that year on Rod MacDonald’s CD Olena mare CD Graceful Dual.

Reserve champion Daintys Kual Kitty is a 6-year-old Dual Smart Rey mare bred by Austin Kenyon and ridden by Morgan Cromer for Clark Butte Ranch of Bend, Oregon.
