Tauna Stratton on The War Leos Legend

Tauna Stratton of Palo Cedro, California marked 220.5 on her 10-year-old gelding The War Leos Legend to win the $50,000 Amateur finals at the 6666 Ranch NCHA Western National Championships in Reno, Nevada Saturday.

The War Leos Legend was bred by William and Patsy Ann Marcy by PF Son Ofa War Leo, out of Docs Steel Mark, a Docs Benchmark mare that has produced two other NCHA money earners. The gelding, whose earnings passed $37,000 at the Western Nationals, had taken Stratton to the finals of the Non-Pro in 2013 and the $5,000 Novice Non-Pro in 2012 at the Western Nationals. He was also a Novice finalist with Randy Brooks in each of those years.

Stratton, has earned over $42,000 in her career. She has been a limited age finalist on two other PF Son Ofa War Leo offspring, Shalikos Pocahontas, and Shalikos Sittingbull.

Michelle Barnes of Clarkston, Washingon on Catman, by Smooth As A Cat, and Jerry Erwin of Ridgefield, Washington on Iced Out, also by Smooth As A Cat, shared the reserve championship with scores of 217.
