NCHA Futurity Sales soar with 2-Year-Old and Gala results

Session II of the NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale, on Tuesday, December 6 at Will Roger Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, saw 81 horses sell for an average of $27,572, and three that sold for $100,000 or more, including the sale topper, Summer Shandy, at $375,000.

On Tuesday evening, the Select Yearling Sale and Gala saw 37 horses sell for an average of $59,905. Smooth Walkin Style, a full sister to 2015 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Smooth Talkin Style LTE $300,379, was the high seller at $200,000. The Smooth As A Cat filly, out of Stylish Play Lena LTE $289,524, a leading producer of earners of $1.5 million, was consigned by her breeder Double Dove Ranch and purchased by Circle Y Ranch, Millsap, Tex.

Misty Reyn, the second highest-selling select yearling at $150,000 was consigned by Arcese and Oswood and purchased by Glenn and Debbie Drake, Napa, Calif. The Dual Rey filly, out of Cat Mist, by High Brow Cat, is a three-quarter sister to ARC Catty Dual LTE $168,762, the dam of One Catty Cupid LTE $130,172.

Desires Got Style, consigned by Rockin 5 Ranch, brought $125,000, from Phil Hanson, Weatherford, Tex. The Docs Stylish Oak filly is out of Desire Some Freckles LTE $205,444, dam of earners of $1.2 million.

Whip Then Nae Nae, by Dual Smart Rey, sold for $100,000 to Rocking P Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex. Consigned by Rocking L Cutting Horses, she is out of Sly Playgirl $343,467, whose first performer is three this year.

Summer Shandy, in training with Andy Christensen, topped the day and the NCHA 2-Year-Old Sale sessions at $375,000. The Metallic Cat daughter, out of Pippis Longstocking LTE $72,046, by Dual Smart Rey, was consigned by Dry Creek Ranch and purchased by Rocking P Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex.

Rey Luis, by Dual Smart Rey and a full brother to Whip Then Nae Nae (yearling, above), was the second highest seller at $172,000. Consigned by Crown Ranch/Chad Bushaw and in training with Chris Hanson, he was purchased by Daniel Burkes, Gold Canyon, Ariz.

Metallic Lil Playboy, consigned by and in training with Hayden Upton, sold on Tuesday for $100,000 to Richard Carney, Kemp, Tex. The Metallic Cat son is out of Stylish Sharon, by Docs Stylish Oak, dam of Sir Stylish Liizzy LTE $219,884.

The NCHA Futurity Sales continue on Wednesday, December 7, with the Select Cow Dog Demonstration and Sale followed by the Preferred Breeders Sale Session I.
